— Overview
Avalon UP is a contemporary mixed-use residential development that redefines urban living through the integration of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces within a single architectural ecosystem. Designed around the concept of "Live. Work. Play.", the development combines premium residences with retail, coworking facilities, landscaped public areas, and rooftop amenities, creating a vibrant destination that supports modern city lifestyles. Rising over 90 metres, the project has become one of the defining landmarks of Lviv's evolving skyline. Luxitecture Lighting Studio was appointed as the lighting design consultant for selected public spaces, common areas, and exterior architectural lighting. Our scope included the development of the lighting concept, detailed design documentation, technical specifications, photometric analysis, and coordination throughout the design process, ensuring that lighting complements the project's ambitious architectural vision.
Lighting Approach
Our lighting strategy was developed to reinforce Avalon UP's contemporary architectural language while enhancing the daily experience of its residents and visitors. The design emphasizes clean architectural lines, vertical proportions, and material textures through carefully integrated lighting solutions that remain discreet during the day and expressive after sunset. Rather than illuminating the building uniformly, light is used selectively to establish hierarchy, create depth, and celebrate the architecture without overwhelming it. Within the communal spaces, layered lighting creates welcoming, comfortable environments that support both social interaction and everyday living. Exterior lighting enhances pedestrian circulation, improves safety, and contributes to a refined nighttime identity while respecting the surrounding urban environment. Throughout the project, visual comfort, glare control, energy efficiency, and long-term maintainability remained key design priorities.
Architectural Intent
The intention behind the lighting design was to express the dynamic character of Avalon UP while preserving the elegance and simplicity of its architecture. Lighting has been carefully integrated to strengthen the relationship between architecture and human experience, transforming the development into a vibrant destination after dark without relying on excessive illumination. Warm, balanced lighting creates inviting communal environments, while subtle façade accents establish a distinctive yet sophisticated nighttime presence that complements the city's skyline. By combining architectural precision with sustainable lighting principles, the design delivers an environment that is functional, timeless, and visually memorable—supporting Avalon UP's vision of creating a complete urban ecosystem where people can comfortably live, work, and relax.
